Morson Training offers engineering apprenticeships to a range of clients across the rail sector.
Formed in 2014, our apprenticeship delivery team consists of four assessors, supported by two internal quality assured trainers, an apprenticeship manager and head of delivery. With members of the team working as engineering trailblazers, responsible for impeccable delivery standards, our approach ensures all our apprentices are highly trained and meet the needs of their employer.
Our apprenticeship academies are based in London and Manchester, supported by a network of national training centres and on-site assessors. This flexibility ensures that the employer gets dedicated on-site support for all apprentices on our programme.
Hundreds of apprentices have passed through our doors – and to high acclaim. Our clients receive a higher-than-typical apprentice skill level because of our advanced and sophisticated training programme. We’re committed to developing apprentices into the best possible candidates they can be in the future, supporting them as they progress through their career.
We take them from a track specialist through to engineering supervisors, project managers or even network planners. It’s essential to provide as much life experience as possible to create an ongoing commitment from them, to the industry. We want to give them the most solid foundations possible so that they stay within the sector for decades to come. If we don’t, and they’re enticed to pivot to a different field of work, we’ll never solve the skills gap that is not just emerging but is now widely established.
All apprenticeship courses can be fully funded through the Apprenticeship Levy or co-funded, at a cost of just 5% of the annual training value. This means that businesses can benefit from cost-neutral training while gaining highly experienced and certified staff.
Featured campaign: Fitness Matters
In 2019 Morson Training’s engineering apprentices took part in a six-week training course with health and fitness company, Eleven Nexus at a local state of the art CrossFit gym. The aim of the experience was to give the young apprentices functional fitness skills such as lifting techniques, which are vital when applied to working in rail. The 5% Club Charter
Morson Group is proud to be a member of the 5% Club Charter for apprentices. The charter is an industry-led initiative focused on promoting the recruitment of apprentices in the workplace, with the ultimate goal being to have at least 5% of the workforce in the business enrolled through various ‘earn and learn’ schemes.
The organisation aims to achieve positive results from both a business and social point of view by address the growing skills gap in the country as well as tackling youth unemployment. Through joining the club, Morson pledge to maintain a minimum of 5% of our workforce enrolled in apprenticeship schemes at any time across the business.
